Electronic Terahertz Sensors

Tunable Terahertz Detectors for Non-Destructive Imaging

Our new generation terahertz sensors for non-destructive and contactless sensing applications can detect and analyze target compounds through solid materials, such as walls, wood and glass. The sensor features an AlGaN/GAN HEMT oscillating plasmonic detector with tunable dual gate nanoparticle THz absorption layer. The detector surface absorbs low-energy THz radiation, which induces intraband transitions in the nanoparticle layer situated between the two gates on the sensing pixel. The THz detector is tuned to the specific THz frequencies and is ultra-sensitive with a higher resolution than standard sensors of its type.

Key Features and Benefits

UV Optical Sensors

Versatile Picosecond UV Detectors for Industrial and Biomedical Applications

Our multi purpose ultra-sensitive, ultra-small, and ultra-low power UV optical sensors have a detector surface with unique patterning and geometry for highest surface ratio to detection speed. The detector’s active area houses gaps for nanoparticles of different sizes and of different metals depending on the specific application. The surface plasmons generated by the nanoparticles act as an intrinsic amplification of the light signal and also enable faster signal capture of the light source while still working on low power and small size. The interaction between the optical elements and the plasmonic elements of the detector can be tuned to specific requirements depending on the application needs.

Key Features and Benefits

  • Picosecond Optical GaN Diode Enhanced by Plasmonic Nanoparticles
  • Sub nanosecond rise and fall time for extremely fast response.
  • Faster light extraction and higher resolution Pixel size between 1-5 µm
  • High temperature operation Single-pixel or multi-pixel array
  • High level of spectral selectivity and sensitivity for greater efficiency without filters
  • Maintaining effectiveness even in higher temperatures
  • Ultra-low power compared to standard PMT detectors
  • Exceptionally greater speed over a larger detection area
  • Modular design in an array format without sacrificing speed or sensitivity

Ideal for

  • UV spectrophotometers (liquid and gas quantitative analysis)
  • In-vitro assay (immunoassay/DNA)
  • X-ray, PET, CT diagnostic equipment (medical imaging)
